So, last nights press conference by GW really left me angry. According to him, basically SS is going to be bankrupt, and my future SS benefits are in trouble.
What I didn't hear is how his proposal to create private SS accounts is going to benefit somebody my age. Even if I start paying into such a thing now, what happens to the 25 years plus I've already paid in? And what kind of benefits can I hope to get when I do retire? I find how vague he was, and the fact that he hardly answered a single question to be very very disturbing.
His energy proposals are a joke. Basically he wants us to rape Alaska for a 25 year fix. What really sucks is we could push forward implementation of fuel cell powered cars, and eliminate the need for gas big time. And, we'd reduce global emissions at the same time. Why isn't this being pushed for? Easy...the oil industry, and it's many ties and subsidiaries will suffer. Wait, did I just write that? Damn, I did. Suffer? Please...the oil barons of the world are rolling in money. Correct me if I'm wrong, but somehow it's ok to rape the land, jeopardize future generations via global warming, and put tons of money into other countries pockets so we can drive around in our ridiculous SUVs, rather then make a bold move toward the future, for the good of all.
